Affiliate Disclosure

In short: SnusMarket earns a commission when readers buy products through links on this site. This costs you nothing extra, and it does not affect our scores, rankings, or which products we cover.

The longer version is below, because a one-line disclosure buried in a footer is not really a disclosure.

What an Affiliate Link Is

Some outbound links on SnusMarket carry a tracking parameter identifying us as the source of the visit. If you follow one of those links and go on to buy something, the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale.

You pay the standard price. The commission is paid by the retailer out of their margin, not added to your basket. Using our links does not make a product more expensive, and avoiding them does not make it cheaper.

Which Links Are Affiliate Links

Assume that any link on this site pointing to a retailer, and any button labelled to prompt a purchase, is an affiliate link. That includes:

  • Buy buttons in product reviews and comparison tables
  • “Best deal” and price links in toplists and buying guides
  • Retailer links within articles and brand hubs
  • Deal and offer links anywhere on the site

Links to brand websites, regulatory sources, news outlets, and reference material are not affiliate links, and we earn nothing from them.

Who We Earn From

We only enter affiliate arrangements with retailers we consider reliable on stock accuracy, shipping, and customer service. A commercial relationship does not make a retailer worth recommending, and where a partner’s service deteriorates we drop them.

What This Does and Does Not Affect

This is the part that matters, and we want to be precise rather than reassuring.

Unaffected vs Affected

Pros
  • Scores: Commission rates are not an input into any of the five dimensions we assess, or into the overall figure. The full rubric and weightings are published on ourHow We Rate page, and commission does not appear anywhere in them.
  • Rankings: Position in a toplist or buying guide is determined by editorial score, community score, and category fit. Products we earn nothing from are ranked on the same basis as products we do, and regularly rank above them.
  • Coverage: We decide what to review based on reader demand and market significance. We cover brands with no commercial relationship to us at all, and we cover products that are unavailable through every partner we work with.
  • Content: No brand or retailer sees our content before publication, has approval rights over it, or can request changes after the fact. No brand can purchase a ranking, a score, a toplist slot, or inclusion in a guide.
Cons
  • Which retailer we send you to: When we recommend where to buy, we generally link to a partner. There may be a non-partner retailer selling the same product at a similar price, and we are not systematically checking every merchant in every market on every page.
  • Which products get a buy link: A product we rate highly that no partner stocks will not have a buy button. It keeps its score and its position, but the absence of a link is a commercial fact, not an editorial verdict, and it is worth knowing that when reading a page.

Being straight about this is more useful than pretending affiliate revenue is invisible.

If price is your priority, compare across retailers before buying. We would rather say that than imply our link is always the cheapest option available.

Product Samples

📦

Products are bought at retail as standard. Where a brand or retailer supplies a sample, that is disclosed on the review in question. Samples are scored using the same framework as products we purchase, and supply has never changed a score.

We do not accept payment, gifts, or hospitality from brands in exchange for coverage. Full detail is in ourEditorial Policy.

Why We Use This Model

SnusMarket is free to read, carries no display advertising, and has no paywall. Affiliate commission is what funds the testing, the writing, and the site itself.

The alternative models are worse for readers. Display advertising rewards volume over accuracy. Sponsored content puts brands inside the editorial. Paid placement sells the thing that makes a recommendation worth anything. Affiliate revenue has one clear conflict of interest, an incentive toward products that convert, and the way to manage it is to publish the rubric, publish the dimension scores, and let readers check the working.

Regulatory Position

This disclosure is provided to meet our obligations under advertising and consumer protection rules in the markets we operate in, including the US Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidelines and EU consumer protection law governing paid rankings and commercial relationships in comparison content.

Alongside this page, affiliate relationships are disclosed at the point of use throughout the site rather than here alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does clicking your links cost me anything?

No. You pay the retailer’s standard price. The commission comes out of the retailer’s margin.

Do you earn more from some products than others?

Commission rates vary by retailer and product. Those rates are not visible to the editorial team during testing and are not an input into any score or ranking.

Are all your links affiliate links?

No. Links to retailers and buy buttons generally are. Links to brand sites, regulators, news sources, and reference material are not.

Can a brand pay you to feature or rank their product?

No. There is no paid placement on SnusMarket and no purchasable ranking, score, or coverage.

What if a product you recommend is not available through your partners?

It keeps its score and its ranking position. It simply will not have a buy button.

How do I avoid using your affiliate links?

Search for the product directly at any retailer. Nothing on this site is gated behind an affiliate link, and no content is withheld from readers who do not use them.
