Is ZYN available at Tesco?

Yes, Tesco sells ZYN. Its range covers Cool Mint, Black Cherry and Citrus in mini format at 3mg and 6mg, plus Cool Mint X Strong at 11mg in the regular size. Availability varies by store, and the selection is a fraction of ZYN’s full UK line-up.

Two things are worth knowing before you go. The mini and regular cans are not the same product in different sizes, they hold different numbers of pouches and use different formulations. And from 29 October 2026, buying nicotine pouches at Tesco will require ID, because a new age-of-sale law takes effect.

Which ZYN Products Tesco Stocks

These are the products listed on Tesco’s own grocery site. Individual stores carry a subset of them.

ProductStrengthFormatPouches per can
ZYN Cool Mint Mini Medium 3mg Mini 20
ZYN Black Cherry 3mg Mini 20
ZYN Black Cherry Mini Strong 6mg Mini 20
ZYN Citrus Mini Strong 6mg Mini 20
ZYN Cool Mint X Strong 11mg Regular 21

The pattern is clear enough: Tesco’s range is built around the low and middle of ZYN’s strength ladder, with one X-Strong option for established users. Three flavours cover the whole selection.

Stock is not consistent across the estate. Larger Tesco Extra stores carry more, smaller Express branches often carry none, and pouches sit behind the tobacco counter rather than on open shelves. If a specific product matters to you, phone ahead.

Mini and Regular Are Not the Same Product

This is the detail Tesco’s listings do not explain, and it changes what you get.

A mini can holds 20 pouches weighing 0.4g each, totalling 8g. A regular can holds 21 pouches at 0.7g each, totalling 14.7g. So a regular can gives you one extra pouch and nearly twice the material per pouch.

The formulations also differ. Tesco’s ingredient listings show the mini pouches built on maltitol and cellulose, while the 11mg Cool Mint X Strong lists water, plant fibre, glycerol, xylitol and propylene glycol. That is the signature of a moister pouch, which releases flavour and nicotine faster than a dry one. Anyone stepping from a ZYN mini to the regular X Strong is changing three variables at once: strength, pouch size and release speed.

Practically, that means the jump from a 6mg mini to an 11mg regular feels considerably larger than the milligram figures suggest. If 6mg is your current level, the sensible move is ZYN 9mg as an intermediate step, though Tesco does not stock it.

What Tesco Doesn’t Stock

ZYN’s full UK range runs to five flavours and five strengths. Tesco carries three flavours and three strengths.

Missing from supermarket shelves: Icy Blackcurrant and Chili Guava as flavours, and 9mg Strong and 13.5mg XX-Strong as strengths. The 13.5mg is ZYN’s strongest UK product, and it is not something you will find on a grocery run.

That gap is the main argument for buying elsewhere. Tesco is convenient if you want ZYN Cool Mint at a moderate strength and happen to be in the shop. It is not useful if you want a specific flavour or the upper strengths, and it offers no bulk pricing.

Other Nicotine Pouches at Tesco

ZYN is not the only brand on the tobacco counter. Tesco began stocking VELO in selected stores during 2025 and had expanded to roughly 400 locations by 2026, typically carrying Mint, Berry and Citrus at 4mg and 7mg for around £4.99 to £5.49 a can. Larger stores may also carry Nordic Spirit, which has the widest supermarket distribution of any pouch brand in the UK.

Sainsbury’s has taken a more limited approach, with pouches in roughly 200 mostly urban stores at similar pricing.

What no supermarket carries is the specialist end of the market, the high-strength Scandinavian and Baltic brands, or anything outside the mainstream mint and berry ground. Supermarket ranges exist to serve casual and new users, not people with settled preferences.

The Law Changes on 29 October 2026

⚠

If you buy pouches at Tesco, this is the most important thing in this article.

The Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026 received Royal Assent on 29 April 2026. Three of its measures affecting nicotine pouches take effect six months later, on 29 October 2026: a minimum age of sale of 18 for all consumer nicotine products, a ban on free distribution, and a ban on vending machines dispensing them.

Until that date, nicotine pouches sat in a genuine regulatory gap. They were legal to sell with no statutory age limit at all, and retailers applied their own voluntary policies. From 29 October, selling a pouch to anyone under 18 becomes a criminal offence enforceable by Trading Standards, who have strengthened powers to inspect premises and confiscate stock. Buying on behalf of someone under 18 is also an offence.

Expect Challenge 25 to be applied at the till from that date, and expect online retailers to tighten age verification. Further restrictions on advertising and sponsorship are scheduled separately, with the government indicating 1 June 2027, and powers over packaging and display will follow through secondary legislation.

None of this makes pouches illegal for adults. They remain legal to buy and use in the UK, and unlike traditional snus, which remains banned from sale across the UK and EU, tobacco-free pouches are not prohibited.

Tesco or Online?

Buy at Tesco if you want a can today, you use one of the three flavours stocked, and 3mg to 11mg covers your needs. The convenience is real and there is no delivery wait.

Buy online if you want the full ZYN range, specific flavours like Icy Blackcurrant or Chili Guava, the 13.5mg strength, or bulk pricing. Specialist retailers routinely discount 10% to 30% on multi-can orders, which supermarkets do not match, and they carry brands supermarkets have never stocked.

For most regular users the answer ends up being both: online for the bulk order, Tesco for the day you run out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Tesco sell ZYN?

Yes. Tesco lists ZYN in Cool Mint, Black Cherry and Citrus, at 3mg and 6mg in mini format and 11mg in the regular X Strong size. Stock varies significantly between stores, and pouches are kept behind the tobacco counter rather than on open shelves.

How much does ZYN cost at Tesco?

Supermarket nicotine pouches generally sit around the £5 mark, with VELO priced at roughly £4.99 to £5.49 per can at Tesco. Supermarkets do not offer the multi-can discounts common online, so the per-can cost is higher than specialist retailers charge for the same products.

Do you need ID to buy ZYN at Tesco?

From 29 October 2026, yes. The Tobacco and Vapes Act 2026 introduces a minimum age of sale of 18 for nicotine pouches from that date, making it a criminal offence to sell them to anyone younger. Expect Challenge 25 checks at the till.

What strengths of ZYN does Tesco stock?

Three: 3mg and 6mg in mini pouches, and 11mg in the regular X Strong format. ZYN’s UK range also includes 9mg Strong and 13.5mg XX-Strong, but neither is stocked by Tesco and both need to be bought from specialist retailers.

Is ZYN mini the same as regular ZYN?

No. Mini cans hold 20 pouches at 0.4g each; regular cans hold 21 pouches at 0.7g each. The listed ingredients also differ, with the regular X Strong using a moister formulation that releases nicotine faster than the drier mini pouches.

Can Tesco sell snus?

No. Traditional snus is a tobacco product and its sale is banned across the UK. ZYN and the other pouches on Tesco’s shelves are tobacco-free, they contain nicotine derived from tobacco but no tobacco leaf, which places them in a separate legal category that remains lawful to sell to adults.
